Youth Super Bowl Party
A HUGE thank you goes out to Pete and Becky Coleman for hosting our Youth Super Bowl Party! Also, thank you to the Youth Committee members for helping to make this event happen. There were over 30 people in attendance, and it was a wonderful outreach opportunity! Check out a few of the photos below from the party.
Aveleigh is a missional church. We currently give to 18 missionaries or organizations as well as support to Newberry Young Life. Our 2016 non-Young Life Benevolence budget totals $36,211.
Each newsletter will highlight and give information on these projects that we support so that we can have a better understanding of the work that is being done in the name of Jesus in Newberry and around the world.
In this newsletter we are highlighting the Newberry County Young Life. Our own Lewis Davis had the vision of bringing Young Life to Newberry County. The Young Life doors opened in 1992 and has been serving hundreds of high school students for 24 years. Kids lives are dramatically impacted when caring adults come alongside them sharing God's love. The area directors are Eddie and Cindy Long. There are currently 11 leaders plus 4 in-training leaders. Young Life meets every Monday night in the Lewis Davis Building on Main Street. In addition, there are in-depth Bible studies and discipleship meetings on Wednesday nights.
We currently give $20,259 to Young Life as well as provide the Lewis Davis Building for them to meet in every Monday.
The Missions Committee is always looking for volunteers who have a heart for these benevolences. If you are interested in being a part of the Missions Committee, contact Elizabeth Adams at 321-0289 or sign up at the Missions Fair on March 13.
The Missions Fair was a great success
Aveleigh is one of the local churches that provides items for the Manna House of Newberry. This is a local food bank that helps families in need. We collect the items in the basket in the hall between Pastor Mitch's office and the entrance to Truesdell Hall. Items needed at this time are: Canned fruit, powdered milk, peanut butter, jelly, flour, sugar, grits, cereals, and loaves of bread. Some of the staples are needed quite often. We will try to keep you informed as the needs arise. Thank you for helping feed those in need. For more information, you may contact Pay Ehney or Pat Turner.
